Towards influencing and encouraging reading of literature written in indigenous languages to preserve the heritage thereof, while gaining knowledge at the same time.

Mission

It is also geared to ignite love, pride and celebration of various official indigenous languages as well as instilling the culture of reading for personal and economic growth.

Objectives

 

  • To inculcate the spirit of reading and the culture of lifelong learning
  • To encourage young people and children to make every day a book day, aiming to change the prevailing wrong perception about reading within local communities.
  • To promote the love and appreciation of indigenous languages through reading and writing
  • To unlock the creative power of youth’s minds through reading
  • To encourage sustainable children and youth driven Reading Clubs
  • Conduct research and data collection for Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu book as part of heritage preservation.
  • Reinforce and publicize the work done by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture
  • Instill self-pride, respect, identity, esteem, and confidence
  • Promote Indigenous languages for heritage preservation
  • To instill and promote the spirit of national building, patriotism, social cohesion amongst children, youth, adults and the society at large
